Leeds Pride 2024, Through my Lens
The day began at just before 6am.
Having organised the majority of my work gear the night before, all I needed to do was have some breakfast and get to the train station on time.
Parking up I got out of the car and walked towards the station. A man dressed in uniform clutching a piece of paper in one hand and a pen in the other rather happily walked on by me.
"Was it a ticket officer" I thought to myself. I glanced over my shoulder and eyed the man stood next to my car taking its details. At the time there was a moment of panic but it turns out he was just taking my registration down as he'd not yet opened up the ticket office.
One ticket from Barnsley to Leeds and I was on my way. "What would Leeds' Pride be like?" I wondered. Just a week ago I had photographed Barnsley Pride which was a nice small affair but Leeds, Leeds I was certain would be bathed in 'celebrations of togetherness'. I had read that 70'000 people were expected to attend. Visions of me being in a moshpit filled my mind.
Sitting at the station is where Leeds' Pride started for me. Individuals covered in Pride related accessories, t-shirts and face paints sat either side of me talking to each other about their plans for the day.
The excitement was beginning to kick in and it would remain there for the remainder of the day!

Barnsley Pride 2024, The Day Through My Lens
Saturday 13th July marked my very first Pride festival. I wasn’t too sure what to expect but one thing I knew would be present was ‘togetherness’.
The day started for me at around 10am. Stalls were almost fully put together and a few people made their way to somewhere comfortable where they could see the day’s events unfold.

Barnsley Pride 2024, Sweet Female Attitude
The main headliner Sweet Female Attitude brought the crowd to their feet during their Saturday afternoon set.
The tunes were phenomenal as expected and the atmosphere was electric!

Barnsley Pride brought it all. An electric energy was present throughout the day and Stephanie Hirst took that energy to yet another level at the Garrison, Barnsley.
It was a pleasure to be able to photograph Stephanie’s set on Saturday night.

A brilliant set by Jack Mitchell, electric violinist got the crowd going on Saturday afternoon at the Garrison, Barnsley.

If there's a musical instrument that I love it's the sax!
It's always wonderful hearing the sound of somebody playing the saxophone and to be able to work and listen to such great music was a treat, so thank you Catherine Rannus!

Barnsley Pride, 2024!
What a day!! What a great day!
As you know I had the privilege of being one of the photographers for Barnsley's Pride festival Saturday just gone.
The day was full of fun and love for all. One of the very talented acts I photographed in the late afternoon was Smashby
You could see how much love was present from both Smashby and the fans. A joy to watch.
